You will find a variety of youth and teen programs at the Wauconda Park District. Whether you are interested in creative expression, art, magic, drawing, and movement classes or just having fun with friends in a weekly class, we have something for you. Holiday Cake Decorating

6-10 years
It’s the holiday season and boys and girls of all ages will love this holiday class. Each participant will enjoy decorating their own cupcakes. We will provide yummy frosting in holiday colors and tons of toppings so that you can create your own special masterpiece. We will then decorate Holiday aprons, chef’s hat and cake box, utilizing a large array of art products from glitter, paint, markers, sequins and feathers. So grab a friend and get yourselves into the holiday spirit with this fun filled class.

Daddy/Daughter: Holiday Jewelry Gift Boutique

3-11 years with parent
Moms- Take advantage of this special class that is a sure hit every year! Sign up your daddy/daughter pairings to make meaningful holiday jewelry class is designed for them to make gifts together to surprise family members. Glitzy Girlz will provide glass faceted crystals, clay, custom designer, silver accent, and holiday/love related beads. Each couple will make a necklace, bracelet, zipper dangle and key chain ring. Enough for gift-giving and the designer to wear! Each couple completes the surprise with packaging for no peeking. We provide stamps, ribbon and wrapping supplies. Music and festive mood provided. Cupcakes Craze

Welcome in Spring with Blue’s Clues

Party Cakes, Party Cakes

These burger cakes are so tasty that we decided to make two of them. You decide whether to eat these creations for breakfast or lunch. Your burgers will be presented on a toasted bun, melted cheese, your choice of condiments, lettuce and tomato. A side order of chocolate fries is included. To quench your thirst you will have a choice of soft drink.

Funky Peace Glam Jam

6-12 years
Come join Glitzy Girlz for a funky peace themed class. Our staff will be doing Funky hair updos with neon braids and colored hair spray. A cool make-up application and nail designs accompanied with a cool retro hand glove fi nish the look. Each girl decorates a craft complete with retro stamps, paints and funky embellishments. Our jewelry piece is a funky chunky bracelet with peace dangles. Off go the lights and we fi ll the room with neon lighting and dance to great tunes with Freeze Dance, Limbo and more. Manners 101 for Scouts

Groups 6 and older
This 90 min class is designed for scouts, both boys and girls, to have the opportunity to earn their manners badge. This class is a combination of both our dining and social grace classes. Some of the topics covered include introductions, conversations, proper table setting, and technique. This is a private class that can be customized to meet the needs of the troop. Social Grace

What gift can you give your child that will last a lifetime? Good Manners. Good manners truly matter and unfortunately in today’s era they are often lacking. Did you know that increasing your child’s social etiquette will help them in building self-confidence that will promote success in all avenues of their life? Magic Class

Children are guaranteed to have a great time as they learn a collection of fascinating and mesmerizing tricks from the “Magic Team of Gary Kantor”! Amaze family and friends with tricks that involve cards, ropes, coins, mind reading, and more. While the tricks may appear diffi cult, you’ll discover that they are quick to learn and easy to perform. All materials are provided, and each child receives a magic kit to take home. Cheerleading Fundamentals

Do you want to be a cheerleader? Join our squad as we learn basic cheers and dances. In class students will learn cheerleading basics, such as arm movements, jumps, and smiles. Picasso’s Workshop Paint and Clay Studio for Kids

Supper Club

Claymation Cinema

Film your very own Claymation animated movie! Create characters out of clay and bring your creations to life using digital cameras and animation software programs. Beginning FUN-engineering

Young engineers will build working models of simple machines such as a seesaw, a rolling vehicle, and a hockey player, using LEGO educational kits. Around the World

Around the World is a child’s passport to fun & learning! This course combines the use of exciting computer software and handson activities to introduce young children to the Spanish culture, geography and language. Theatre Improv

Jurassic Cinema

Bring a Tyrannosaurus Rex, a triceratops, or a Velocipraptor to life as we create our very own dinosaur movie! Using their imagination, creativity, and technology students will work together in teams to write their own stories about their favorite dinosaurs, design their own backgrounds, and fi lm and edit their own movies using digital cameras and animation software. They will learn animation concepts, storyboard (the details of their animated movie), and discover creative ways to bring their characters to life. For all kids who need to stay engaged and laughing, our cartooning classes are surely the most fun you can have while learning! This entertaining program combines Young Rembrandts’ innovative, hands-on teaching method with light-hearted subject matter that engages children, their sense of humor and their vivid imaginations. Elementary Drawing

This winter in Young Rembrandts drawing class your child will learn about basic design and composition as they draw their own dollar bill. If your child is fond of sports, he or she will enjoy drawing our illustrations featuring a trophy showcase and soccer player. Good color selection and proper coloring technique will be emphasized in many of our lessons, including the miniature portrait lesson. Besides strengthening your child’s drawing and coloring skills, he or she will also learn about art history as we present lessons featuring master artists Gilbert Stuart and Picasso. Enrichment Programs

K-5th Grade
Is your child looking to experience a variety of activities in a fun recreational setting but because of work, other children, or bussing schedules you are unable to register them for traditional park district programs. Then this program was designed with you in mind. Your child will meet park district staff immediately at the end of the day in the cafeteria. We will give them a snack and an opportunity to run off some steam. Then we will proceed to a classroom for a wide variety of activities. It is the responsibility of the parent to send a note to your child’s teacher on the morning of the class to inform him/her to send your child to the cafeteria and not home on the bus. So join us for this new exciting program you can sign up for one or all of the classes.

V.I.P. Volunteer Incentive Program

13+ years
Attention all junior high through high school students! How would you like to earn free passes to the movies, a gift certifi cate to the mall or even a free trip? All you have to do is donate your time to help out your park district and community by volunteering at any of our special events. You can volunteer for all events or just some of them. American Red Cross Babysitting Class

11 years and up
This class will give your child the information and skills necessary to provide safe care for children when parents/ guardians are not available. They will learn leadership, safety, safe play, basic care, fi rst aid, CPR for infant and children, as well as professionalism. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive a Red Cross Babysitting Certifi cate. Participants must attend all eight hours to become certifi ed. Bring a baby-sized doll and a lunch to all classes.

All Night Teen Ski Trip

11-19 years
Wauconda Park District will be taking part in the IPRA All Night Teen Ski Trip. We will be busing a group to Chestnut Mountain in Galena, where your teen will have the opportunity to ski all night with teens from across Illinois. Space is limited so sign up early. Bring extra money for snacks and games. Transportation is by motor coach. REGISTRATON DEADLINE IS JANUARY 13th.
