Pumpkin Coloring Contest (Ages 2-9 years)

Help us make the Community Center front entry look like a pumpkin patch. Beginning Monday, October 2nd, you can pick up your copy of our pumpkin coloring sheet or download it HERE: PUMPKIN COLORING CONTEST 2017

Use your imagination and creativity to decorate your pumpkin using any craft /art materials that you like. Be sure to turn in your completed pumpkin no later than Monday, Oct. 23rd. One winner will be chosen in each of the following age ranges: 2-3, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9. One overall grand prize winner will receive a special Halloween prize!

Trick or Treat on Main Street (All Ages)

Come on out to this FUN, FAMILY event! Stop in the shops and restaurants on Main Street for treats, games, and specials! Other activities include pet costume parade, pumpkin carving contest,
spooky tales. Stop by Beach Park for our kid- friendly haunted house, carnival games, and bounce houses. There is a F R E E shuttle from the Park District Fest Lot. All events are F R E E and sponsored by the Main Street Businesses.  Bring a camera to capture the memories your little ghosts and ghouls.

 Holiday Walk on Main Street, Tree Lighting and Santa’s Arrival (All Ages/Family)

Aft er a day of winter activities on Main Street, join the Wauconda Park District and get into the holiday spirit as we welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus to Wauconda at the annual Tree Lighting event.  Santa will arrive on a fire truck to light the tree and kick off  the holiday season with a brief Fireworks display.  After Santa arrives, join us in the Community Center for crafts, games, stories and refreshments.  Bring your camera to take a picture with Santa.  Goodie bags are available, while supplies last.  No registration required.

Elf Yourself! (All Ages)

Let’s deck the halls of the Community Center with clever and creative elves. Stop by the Community Center front desk or download your elf template from our website home page starting on Monday, Nov. 27th. Using a picture of yourself, decorate your elf to show off  your personality. Turn in your completed elf to the Community Center front desk . Then, come back by the park district and search for your elf throughout the building! We will be awarding three grand prize winners on Wednesday, December 20th, posting the winning elves on the Wauconda P ark District Facebook page.


Calls From Santa (Children – All Ages)

Ho! Ho! Ho! Would you like your child to get a personal call from Santa, himself ? This is a great surprise f or all children, reminding them to be especially good for these next few weeks! Parents, pick up an information flyer for calls at our office (or download from our website) starting on Monday, November 20th. Calls will be made on Wednesday , December 6th and Thursday, December 7th between 3-6pm.

Letters to Santa (Children – All Ages)

Santa wants to make sure he hears from all of the children in Wauconda, so he has added another mail box at the Community Center. Beginning December 1st through December 15th, you may drop off your letter to Santa in his special mailbox. Remember to include your name and address so Santa can write you back. No postage required.


C.E.R.T – Wauconda EMA/CERT

Disaster can strike when you least expect it… Are You Ready?
Wauconda C .E .R .T . ( Community Emergency Response Team) wants you to be prepared for emergencies. C E R T training promotes a partnering effort between emergency services and the people that they serve.
Wauconda is hosting a CERT Training Class for new members – meet new people and learn important safety skills. A free six-week training course on emergency preparedness will
run every Tuesday for 6 weeks starting Tuesday, September 12th at Wauconda Fire District Station #1. The goal is for emergency personnel to train members of neighborhoods, community organizations, or workplaces in
basic response skills.
C.E.R.T members are then integrated into the emergency response capability for their area.
