 Holiday Walk on Main Street, Tree Lighting and Santa’s Arrival (All Ages/Family)

Aft er a day of winter activities on Main Street, join the Wauconda Park District and get into the holiday spirit as we welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus to Wauconda at the annual Tree Lighting event.  Santa will arrive on a fire truck to light the tree and kick off  the holiday season with a brief Fireworks display.  After Santa arrives, join us in the Community Center for crafts, games, stories and refreshments.  Bring your camera to take a picture with Santa.  Goodie bags are available, while supplies last.  No registration required.

Elf Yourself! (All Ages)

Let’s deck the halls of the Community Center with clever and creative elves. Stop by the Community Center front desk or download your elf template from our website home page starting on Monday, Nov. 27th. Using a picture of yourself, decorate your elf to show off  your personality. Turn in your completed elf to the Community Center front desk . Then, come back by the park district and search for your elf throughout the building! We will be awarding three grand prize winners on Wednesday, December 20th, posting the winning elves on the Wauconda Park District Facebook page.

 

Calls From Santa (Children – All Ages)

Ho! Ho! Ho! Would you like your child to get a personal call from Santa, himself ? This is a great surprise f or all children, reminding them to be especially good for these next few weeks! Parents, pick up an information flyer for calls at our office (or download from our website) starting on Monday, November 20th. Calls will be made on Wednesday , December 6th and Thursday, December 7th between 3-6pm.

Letters to Santa (Children – All Ages!)

Santa wants to make sure he hears from all of the children in Wauconda, so he has added another mail box at the Community Center. Beginning December 1st through December 15th, you may drop off your letter to Santa in his special mailbox. Remember to include your name and address so Santa can write you back. No postage required.

Winter/Spring 2018 Special Events (Registration Begins 12/4/17)

Sweetheart Dance (3-14 yrs) – 3 SEATINGS

Girls, it’s that time of year to bring the favorite man in your life (Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, Brother, family friend) and prepare for an evening/afternoon of fun, dancing to a live D.J., contests, prizes, and extra special refreshments. Professional photographs will be taken and available for purchase. Each girl will receive a mini corsage at the dance (included in price). Local restaurants will provide the dinner. This is a popular program so be sure to register early.

Mom and Son Date Night (5-10 yrs w/parent)

Attention Boys! This is your chance to take your mom or special family member out for the evening. This annual event is always a huge hit! The evening’s theme will be unveiled closer to the event, but be ready for an evening of fun throughout the park district building. This special event is designed for each boy and his date to socialize, play games, make a craft, and participate in some great group activities together. Be dressed to run around and have some fun. After all the excitement, we’ll kick back and enjoy a pizza snack. A drawing for raffle prizes will round out our evening!

Tea Party With Mom (3-10 yrs w/parent)

This traditional event is a great way to spend a very special day with mom, grandma, aunt and special friends. Get all dressed up and join us for an afternoon of girl-time fun. Our day will include group games, crafts and even a little dancing. We will also be treated to a delicious lunch buffet with tea and lemonade. A tea party wouldn’t be complete without an incredible assortment of sweet treats. Every girl will go home with a special goody bag. Pre-registration is required.

Spring Coloring Contest (2-9 yrs)

Let’s welcome the first day of spring on March 20, with our spring coloring contest. Pick up your coloring sheet at the Park District or download it from our website starting Monday, March 19th. Unleash your inner artist, drop off your completed picture and then come back to see it proudly hung in our front entry. One winner in each age category will be chosen: 2-3 yrs, 4-5 yrs, 6-7 yrs, 8-9 yrs. Please return your completed picture by Monday, April 9th by 5pm. Winners will be notified by phone.

Annual Egg Hunt (3-10 yrs)

Hey kids: Get ready – get set for a great time at our popular egg hunt in Cook Park. Grab your basket, friends and family and hunt for all the eggs and treats you can find. A special appearance by Mr. Bunny will also be part of the fun. Bring your camera for those special pictures with the bunny. Note: No parents will be allowed on the course for the 4-6 or 7-10 year-old age groups. Remember this is a fun event for the kids. No registration is required.

C.E.R.T – Wauconda EMA/CERT

Disaster can strike when you least expect it… Are You Ready?
Wauconda C .E .R .T . ( Community Emergency Response Team) wants you to be prepared for emergencies. C E R T training promotes a partnering effort between emergency services and the people that they serve.
Wauconda is hosting a CERT Training Class for new members – meet new people and learn important safety skills. A free six-week training course on emergency preparedness will
run every Tuesday for 6 weeks starting Tuesday, September 12th at Wauconda Fire District Station #1. The goal is for emergency personnel to train members of neighborhoods, community organizations, or workplaces in
basic response skills.
C.E.R.T members are then integrated into the emergency response capability for their area.
