Director of Parks and Recreation Letter

Dear Residents,
Accreditation – I am pleased to announce that our District recently   received  Accreditation  status in Risk Management  from the Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA).  PDRMA is a risk management agency for a pool of over 150 Park, Forest, and Special Recreation Districts in Illinois.  Accreditation is the highest level of achievement that a PDRMA member can attain.  The accreditation process measures Park District performance against established agencies, national safety and risk management standards.  This recognition for our District is a testament to the quality and safety of its recreational programs, facilities, and events.  Our staff is dedicated to providing our residents with safe environments to enjoy their leisure pursuits.
New Partnership – One of our goals is to continue to look for ways to provide our residents with additional recreational opportunities at affordable prices that may not be found within our District boundaries.  This summer we have formed a Partnership with the Mundelein Park District to offer our residents a reduced rate on a season pass to their Barefoot Bay Aquatic Center along with a discount coupon for Steeplechase Golf Course.  Check out page 20 for all the details.  We feel this partnership is a win-win for everyone.

Park Chats – This summer our Board of Commissioners are rolling out a new program called “Park Chats”.  These chats will take place at four parks this summer.   We encourage residents to stop by if we are in your neighborhood and join us for an informal chat.  We would love to hear your ideas and thoughts on the District.  Snacks and activities will be provided.  Check out page 14 for more details on this opportunity.

Wauconda Fest – “Kudos”  to all of you who voted Wauconda Fest the Best Fest in the Daily Herald’s Readers Choice poll.   Our Fest Committee was thrilled to receive this news.  We can’t thank you enough for your support.  We can’t wait to see everyone at this year’s Fest (June21-24).  Also congratulations to all of the other Wauconda winners.

I encourage you to look through our program guide to check out all the classes and events we have scheduled for the summer.   I am sure that you will find something that interests you.  If at any time you have any questions or concerns regarding District operations, please feel free to contact me.  Enjoy your summer.
