At the Wauconda Park District, our group fitness classes combine cardio, strength, and flexibility, to suit every interest and fitness level.
Meet Our Yoga InstructorsRenee Chwaszczewski Renee received her Hatha Yoga 200 hour certification from the Lotus Yoga Center in 2005, and is currently enrolled in a 500 hour certification program. Renee is a RYT 200 with the Yoga Alliance, and a board member of the Himalayan Yoga & Meditiation Center in Palatine. In addition to yoga, Renee has studied several alternative healing modalities. Renee beleves in empowering her students, so they have the tools to embrace their yoga journey. Barbara Spietz Barbara is an initiate of Sir Swami Rama, founder of the Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy. She earned a B.S. in Physical Education and Health and M.S in Adapted Physical Education. Her post graduate work is in Psychology, Nutrition, Addictions and RET and EFT therapy. Barbara is registered with the Yoga Alliance at the 500 level and is certified in Yoga and Physical Management. She has been teaching for 30 + years and has never lost her passion for helping others learn. Yoga works to bring the body into alignment creating balance both physically and mentally. This class is a great way to relieve stress from your busy day. Barbara Spietz blends Eastern philosophy with Western ‘know how’ for a practical approach to wellness. Jazzercise 13 years and up Location: Community Center Group FitnessPilateswith SCW certified, Maggie Location: Community Center Totally TonedTotal (adj.): involving a complete and unified effort especially to achieve a desired effect Location: Community Center Weight Loss ChallengeAdult The WLC is a 10-week program meeting together weekly for an hour to learn about proper nutrition, how to improve eating habits and find out exactly how many calories a day your body burns. This information will teach how to lose weight and keep it off. The goal is to have participants living healthy with vim, vigor, and vitality for the rest of their lives. Because of all the helpful information attendance at the weekly meetings is a KEY factor in ensuring success. Each week participants will weigh-in and consult with the coaches, who help along the way, offering various meal replacement options to help reach ideal weight and body composition. The program encourages participants to eat a healthy level of protein and calories each day and teaches the benefits of good nutrition. Topics include: protein, carbohydrates, water and digestion, vitamins, dining out, exercise, sugar, healthy oils and more. Each person will receive personalized coaching. Winner can win prize money paid out by check after week 10. Specific rules will be in place to keep everyone consistent. Previous contests ended with an average weight loss of over 19 pounds and over 10 inches per person! Prize money is limited to $25 per participant of the enrollment fees. First place winner will receive 50% of the prize money up to a maximum of $250. Second place winner will receive 25% of the prize money. Third place winner will receive 15% of the prize money.
